Croatian Catholic Retreat 2015 was held at Benedict XVI Retreat Centre in Grose Vale (New South Wales) between 12th and 15th of February. 36 young Croatian Catholics between 18 and 35 years of age attended the retreat. Majority were from Sydney, only two of them from Adelaide.
– We were fortunate enough to have Fra Zvonimir from St Anthony’s church Summer Hill with us the whole weekend, and he lead us in prayer and mass throughout the retreat. We also had Fra Josip from Church of Our Lady Blacktown hold a talk on Friday as well as Vice and Mirela Batarelo from Croatia. The weekend was structured well we started each day with morning prayers, followed by talks and mass. In the afternoon we had some free time for sports, then we had adoration in the chapel followed by rosary and another talk. In the evenings we had freetime, unfortunately due to the weather we couldn’t use the campfire, so we gathered in the common room and enjoyed the evening playing card, and socializing. On Saturday evening we had a trivia night with a Croatian theme which was enjoyed by all.
It was a beautiful weekend, spent with fellow Croatian Catholic youth, many friendships were formed and most importantly we got to grow in our faith and celebrate our faith together – we were told by Anita Zrilic from St Anthony’s church Summer Hill.
Here’s how young Croatian Catholics spent this great weekend.
